What Types Of Websites Offer Online Music Lessons?

If you’re the kind of person who loves music, then you’re probably the kind of person who’s wanted to learn how to play an instrument.

Chances are, you’ve even purchased an instrument and a method book, trying to teach yourself how to play. Unfortunately, there’s only so far that an individual method book can get you. Which means that eventually, you’re going to want to find some online lessons.

Online music lessons are a great way to continue your musical education. Unfortunately, you may not have a good grasp of what kind of websites offer online music lessons. This can cause you to feel discouraged as you search for hours, trying to figure out the exact right search terms in order to find the sites you need. Eventually, you wind up deciding you have better things to do, and you never wind up continuing your musical education.

Luckily, there are some things you can do to avoid this. The internet is an amazing tool, but you do have to have a solid idea of what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for online music lessons, there are two types of websites that you should be looking in to.

Video Hosting Sites

Sites such as YouTube often have a variety of online music instruction videos that are available for free. These videos are of variable quality, since there’s no official person to ensure that the lessons are being taught correctly. In addition, you can’t always be certain you’ll find instructions for the instrument you want. You’ll likely find plenty of music teaching videos online if you play something common. There are plenty of guitar playing instruction videos, flute playing instruction videos, and other instruments that are popular. But if you play something a bit more obscure, you might not find very much.

However, the videos are free, which means you don’t have to worry about how many times you have to watch. So that can be quite beneficial.

Sheet Music Sites

Any website that sells sheet music will offer music lessons. These might be in the form of instruction booklets, and they may want you to pay for them, but they will offer them. Since you’ll no doubt already be looking for sheet music, you’ll no doubt happen upon some of these instructions without even trying.

Learning an instrument is great, and you should be proud of yourself for trying to expand your education. Just make sure you’re determined and dedicated, and you practice every day!
